The reason students are not succeeding isn't what you think.

What skills does your student need to thrive in school?

Take the free Executive Function assessment to receive personalized feedback.

You see students struggle and don’t know how to help.

What you’ve been doing hasn’t been working – pushing organization strategies and study skills, but the patterns you see are still the same.

Work is being handed in late, grades are slipping, and no matter what you try they are struggling with the same issues.

These methods tackle a portion of the problem,

but they don’t address the overall issue plaguing our students:

The real reason students aren’t meeting goals is not because they can’t do it, it’s because their

executive function skills are underdeveloped.

Executive function is the set of mental processes that help you get things done.

And while they are incredibly important in navigating every day life and crucial to success in adulthood, these skills don’t come naturally to most students.

Executive function isn’t something that you can teach in one lesson. It’s something that needs to be scaffolded and implemented in a comprehensive way.

I’m Dr. Lauran Kerr-Heraly, and I help students, families, organizations, and educators alter their lives by improving executive function.

Executive function coaching is a targeted approach aimed at helping individuals enhance their executive functioning skills such as:

  • Planning

  • Organization

  • Time management

  • Working memory

  • Self-regulation

  • Task initiation

  • Flexibility

Learn how to develop these skills in yourself and students and make them stick!

About Dr. Lauran

Hiya!

I’m Dr. Lauran Kerr-Heraly: executive function coach, professor, and speaker.

Post-COVID, I saw a drastic decline in organization, motivation, and time management in my students. At the same time, my spouse and kiddo were diagnosed with ADHD, and we started learning new ways to address and implement executive function skills. I wanted to use my expertise in the field of education to help people with underdeveloped executive function skills, so I started Altering Course.

Helping you be less frustrated and more organized and confident.

You’ve tried everything and you just want the best for your family or school. This is why I focus on executive function coaching. Whether you are an organizational leader, a parent, or a college student, executive functioning is increasingly needed to succeed in academic spaces.
